Article by News Team | 21 Jan 2014

Taking place at Manchester's Victoria Warehouse, the inaugural BBC Radio 6 Music Festival (28 March - 1 April) will welcome a grand total of 30 bands to the stage, with their sets broadcast live on the station. DJ Lauren Laverne today revealed the first few headliners to play the event – epic indie rock ensemble The National - whose Trouble Will Find Me was named as our fourth favourite Album of the Year – head up the lineup announced so far, with more from the bill to be announced live on air throughout the day.

They will be joined by Scotland's favourite sons Franz Ferdinand, neo-soul wunderkind James Blake, David Cameron-approved pop munchkins Haim, and cosmic rockers Metronomy. Also announced are Drenge, Midlake, Luke Sital-Singh, Bombay Bicycle Club, Jimi Goodwin, Wild Beasts, Jagwar Ma, Nick Mulvey, and DJ sets from station regulars Craig Charles, and Huey Morgan of the Fun Lovin' Criminals. Current lineup details are available here.
