In Profile: Sean Collins

Sean Collins has a smooth, laidback style of comedy you don't see so much any more. His laconic manner is reminiscent of a time before frenetic and wide-eyed mania seemed to take over in popularity, and it suits his material. He takes his time with monologues on women or life, anything that has caught his wry, critical eye. But he can hit his comedy mark dead centre at twenty paces and you won’t see it coming.

Observations from his life are told with a more moving voice than most other confessional comedians and he creates an unusually personal atmosphere, even in large venues. He manages to keep his audience relaxed in their seats but leaves them aching from laughter.

Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Collins came to the UK for the comedy scene and has stayed. This year’s show at the Glasgow Comedy Festival recounts his last twenty years as a stand up and is bound to be an intimate journey. If you haven’t caught Sean Collins live before, this one night is a must.
