Zoe Lyons

Feature by Fern Brady | 05 Aug 2009

Exploring topics as varied as human soup, arming the elderly and the Pope’s views on gender identity, Zoe Lyons’ third solo show at the Fringe promises to be better than ever.

Following her win last year for Funniest Joke of the Fringe—the winning joke being “I can’t believe Amy Winehouse self-harms…She’s so irritating she must be able to find someone to do it for her”—Lyons’ gag was criticized by Germaine Greer in the Guardian as “astonishingly vicious.”

Luckily, the multi-award winning comedian takes this as a huge compliment, so this year’s Miss Machismo doesn’t look like it’ll be pulling any punches.

With critics’ accolades on her previous run including "distinctive," "fast-paced" and "gutsy" plus regular TV spots on BBC 2’s Mock the Week, Sex Bombs and ITV’s Survivor, now’s a good time to get yourself along to one of her brilliantly written shows.
