Amsterdam Underground Comedy Collective

Accents are funny. The Dutch accent is especially amusing. Now that these undeniable facts are out the way, let's begin. The Amsterdam Underground Comedy Collective is a group of diverse comedians from that bastion of social liberalism and pot smoking. You would naturally expect that such a laid back attitude to life would inspire a particularly unique approach to comedy from the people who invented wooden shoes. The Dutch flavour of the show’s material, however, is almost completely absent save for some wonderful accents and a chunk of material on immigration. This is by no means a bad thing as their collective wit contributes to a very entertaining pub night (this show is held in the slightly cramped basement of a very popular bar).

While other comedy showcases such as Late 'n' Live have significantly more time to play with, these guys are limited to an ultra-efficient one hour, with the clearly talented compere only managing to blurt out the name of the next comedian between acts. Don’t expect highbrow laughs here, but if you're after a relatively good value evening in the lap of the person sitting next to you, you can’t go far wrong with this show.
