Vintage Venture

Article by Mhairi Graham | 29 Jun 2010

Take a collection of Scotland’s brightest makers, creators, collectors, a 1920s dancehall and a mad Edwardian garden party and what do you get? Modern Makers, which will present a jamboree of vintage-inspired treats and treasures both old and new, including jewellery, clothing, home ware and books. Set within Kirkcaldy’s YWCA on the seafront, the event is set to be a mad hatter’s garden party come curiosity cabinet, presenting a variety of stalls with sellers from across Scotland.

The afternoon party is hosted by non-profit organisation the Just Regional Development Trust, and will be accompanied by live folk music and
a theatrical catwalk of vintage delights. There will also be a quintessentially British teahouse serving up tea and tiers of cake, courtesy of the Green Cockatoo, along with music from across the decades.

Expect wild plants, quirky designs, one-offs and dance-offs, with all proceeds from the event will go to B-eat Charity, which helps and supports those with eating disorders within the UK. All this and a day out in Fife for a credit crunching £1. Do it!
