The Gin Palace

Article by Alexandra Fiddes | 03 Apr 2010

Getting their name from the faded gold lettering on the door of a much loved family garden shed, The Gin Palace is a newly created collective based in Glasgow, which prides itself on showcasing cutting edge designers with a connection to Scotland. After the success of their first pop-up event The Shape Of Things To Come, which took place last November, they will be holding another event, entitled Details To Follow, on 9-11 April at 12-16 South Fredrick Street in Glasgow. The three founders are designers Leah Black and her sister Ruth, along with food and wine expert Greg Reid, who began the collective with the aim of combining their many skills with a view to establishing a new venue and design hub in Glasgow within the next year. The space will hopefully include a gallery, a shop and a cafe/bar, and promises to house the most innovative yet functional design pieces.

Taking part in Details To Follow are designers who span the disciplines, showing everything from jewellery to ceramics to furniture. Work from Niki Taylor (Olanic Fashion), John Galvin, Pringle & Murray, Lindsay Grime, Emma Henderson (Showpony), Sally-Ann Provan, Elaine Eckford amongst many others will be included.
