The fashionable will flock to Edinburgh’s Dovecot this week!
Heriot-Watt University is gearing up for their annual Exhibition and Fashion Show this Friday 24 June, which will feature collections from this year’s graduates of the prestigious school of Fashion Design and Design for Textiles.

Praised in the past for its high-end feel and professionalism, this year’s event will be held at the Dovecot in Edinburgh and is sure to delight both industry insiders and fashion-savvy with impressive collections from the likes of Melissanthi Spei, Athif Dean, Anna Visocchi and Samantha Mcewa whose colourful designs explore Voodoo and Caribbean Culture.

Recent graduate Pamela Aitken’s collection is also set to be a highlight as the former Falkirk High student was recently nominated for the Graduate of the Year award at the Scottish Fashion Awards last week. Although she just missed out to Campbell Dunn of Huddersfield University, Mark Timmins, Course Director at Heriot-Watt University’s School of Textiles and Design, said, “Pamela has worked hard throughout her course and has created a stunning collection that is bold, tasteful and contemporary.” Definitely one to watch on the night.

Designer Mark Eley, who is one half of world-renowned fashion duo Eley Kishimoto, a brand specializing in intelligent print design with exceptional craftsmanship, is back on board as curator and director for the second year running after 2010’s knockout event and will no-doubt cast his expert eye over proceedings.

Heriot-Watt’s 2011 Graduate Exhibition is open to the public from 21-25 June, 10.30 – 5.30pm at The Dovecot, 10 Infirmary Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1LT. Admission is free.
