This Sunday sees the pre-launch of new Southside thrift store Glad Rags with a clothes swap event and ethical fashion pop-up shop. Sister company of well-established social enterprise eatery and venue The Glad Café, Glad Rags profits will contribute to the Glad Foundation, an organisation whose main focus is to provide affordable music classes for children.

Ethically-minded, Glad Rags promotes the idea of giving pre-loved items a new home through recycling and upcycling! The event will be run in conjunction with independent designers and with Re-Fashion Glasgow - a collective of sustainable fashion businesses who aim to raise awareness of an ethically-aware and way of shopping and who already run successful monthly swaps.

There will be a fashion swap at the event, with visitors encouraged to bring three or more good quality items to swap for something else, with all remaining pieces being donated to Glad Rags Thrift Shop. Ladies clothing and accessories, menswear and kidswear are all welcomed. There will also be a drop-off point for other donations to the store. Alongside the clothes swap will be an ethical pop-up shop featuring independent designers Top Project, Think Boutique, Jennie Lööf Clothes, Hole in my Pocket and Aimee Kent.

The clothes drop-off will start at 4pm with the fashion swap and pop-up shop opening at 5pm. So get down to The Glad Café to show some unwanted clothes some love, support a great cause and get a taste of what’s to come from Glad Rags Thrift Store!
