Not Just A Pretty Picture

Feature by Nadine Walker | 02 Dec 2011

A picture can speak a thousand words. But in the fashion world it takes more than a pretty smile to make it. The Not Just a Pretty Picture team is creating an exciting opportunity for the person who is the next big thing in the Scottish fashion industry.

NJAPP are currently in the midst of their search, asking the question: “Not just a pretty picture? Well show us!” Their aim is to seek out models, designers, photographers, make-up artists, hair stylists, wardrobe stylists and journalists who think they have what it takes to shape the fashion industry over the next decade.

The NJAPP team who are searching for the crème de le crème of creative talent is made up of award-winning photographer Laura McKinnon and Adele Robertson of G2E Events. After setting up her own photography business in January this year, McKinnon has worked full throttle to get her business off the ground.
(Often going days without sleep to keep on-top of things!) McKinnon now wants to help other creatives make the most of their talent:  “Organisations like Young Enterprise Scotland helped me to get to where I am now, but not everybody has access to that help or support within the fashion industry. I want to give back for all the help I've had and hopefully in the process further my own career.”

NJAPP are offering three opportunities to the successful candidates: an editorial photo shoot with accompanying feature exploring inspirations of the successful designers, a catwalk showcasing the emerging Scottish model talent and a networking event for all creatives to come together and sculpt the future of Scottish fashion.
