Charitable Designs

Ordinarily speaking, it would only be the ludicrously over-competent and proficient eBay bidder who may hope to get their hands on an original Vivienne Westwood garment for under fifteen quid. Yet, this year, any cash-strapped fashion devotee can add a piece of legendary Westwood design to their wardrobes, as the queen of British fashion teams up with Comic Relief, designing an exclusive range of limited edition T-shirts now being stocked at TK Maxx stores nationwide.

Each T-shirt demonstrates Westwood's distinctive flair for combining iconic aesthetics with a blithely quipping humour. The T-shirts come in an array of designs referencing both historic imagery and pop culture, with characters from the cast of Blackadder, William Shakespeare and glamorous Louis XVI ladies all cropping up in one of the black and white prints (endowed with the signature red nose obviously!). Blending immaculate design with a distinctly comic sensibility, each shirt is a stylish tribute to the charity.

Every shirt is sold exclusively at TK Maxx, available to buy both in-store or online. So if the prospect of a designer label at a bargain price isn’t convincing enough, you’ll be glad to hear that every element of the production and marketing of the clothes echoes their ethical intention. Wholly manufactured in Africa, on 100% fairtrade cotton from Mali, and with all net profits going directly to Comic Relief, there’s really no reason not to treat yourself.
