Bold Souls

Cup cakes? Check! Flowing bar? Check! DJ? Check! Sub Club provided the perfect setting for the underground Glasgow fashion event which at first glance resembled the backstage of a glamorous runway show, Bold Souls; a unique pop-up styling event involving some of the best independent designers the city has to offer. The hair and make up section was hosted by sponsors the Rainbow Rooms, who prepared the eager and willing public who were to be styled by designers such as MeeMee Couture and Torres.

Co-founder Silvia Pellegrino was delighted with the venue and turnout, saying, "The fact that so many interested young fashionistas came to be part of our event gives us much hope for the future of Bold Souls!" As you walk around the Sub Club bright colours, feathers and beautiful tall girls in frilly pants (I assume Bold Souls representatives!) don't fail to catch the eye. Designers perch in their designated booths ready to offer styling tips and business cards, while interestingly dressed people swig on cider and mill around.

Nestled in between MeeMee Couture and a vibrant vintage collection from Sew Vintage, The Skinny favourite Rebecca Torres took time out from being snapped by Les Garcons de Glasgow's Jonathan Pryce and spoke about her inspiration for her bold, empowering collection: "The League of Electric collection takes inspiration from my love of Sc-Fi. It's strong, confident and quirky", she proudly smiles. "I was brought up with the most glamorous Mum and Granny. They were always immaculate and that taught me that it doesn't matter how little money you have, it takes a minimum effort to look great. They definitely inspire my designs."

Anna from Oui! Designs couldn't curb her enthusiasm as she gave me a peek at her look book and showed off her beautiful collection. "I have been involved with the last few Bold Souls events and it's always great. It's been busy today and I really love the venue. It totally fits in with the underground vibe of the event." If you like your Saturday with cake, cider and hair spray then get familiar with Bold Souls. The unique, creative fashion event which convinced me it's the perfect way to spend a Saturday.
