I’ve learned a couple of things about Glasgow since moving to London. The last time I was in Scotland was at Christmas. I needed to go to Glasgow to get a couple of last minute presents and I was in the city the day after the tragedy in George Square happened. All I could feel when walking around the centre was that even on such a sad day for the city, Glasgow is still cheerier than any day in London.

Although I've never actually lived in Glasgow, I grew up in a small town near the city. It was both amazing to get to go there and be in such a busy place, but also scary being accosted by random drunks. When you grow up in a small town the difference is that it's likely you’ll know said drunks.

I remember being stuck in a conversation with a drunk old guy in George Square when I was 14. His brain had been so pickled by alcohol the only word he could really remember and use was the word "cunt". It was basically his only form of punctuation.

I haven’t moved much further from chatting to random drunks. In London, I work behind a craft beer bar to keep up with the rent. I enjoy it a lot as London’s craft beer scene is going through an explosion in popularity. There is so much potential for it to develop further in Glasgow, which it will over the next couple of years. So if you want to stay ahead of the game one of the best places to get a taste of the world’s scene is Hippo Beers in Glasgow's West End. It has some great exports from south of the border, the USA and Europe along with some fantastic up and coming breweries within Scotland.
