The Skinny on... Eva Peroni
One of Scotland's youngest and most exciting standups, Bestie winner and Edinburgh University survivor Eva Peroni takes on the Q&A
What’s your favourite place to visit and why?
I’m not really a places guy, I don’t really go somewhere unless there is something specific to do there. There is a new Dominican restaurant in Edinburgh called The KeLoKe Corner, it’s a good vibe and the food and drinks are good even though the menu is AI. I was accidentally their first customer ever, which I found embarrassingly keen but I have been back a good few times now.
Favourite food and why?
I’m really really into sweetcorn, it's so class and you can do so much with it! I recently had sweetcorn and black pepper ice cream and it rocked so hard. That massive green guy is actually so cool.
Favourite colour and why?
My absolute favourite colour is the colour of the orange wool in Minecraft but not how that colour actually looks, how it looks when I try to recreate it in my head, it is probably not a real colour but it’s mine and that’s what matters.
Who was your hero growing up?
I was weirdly OBSESSED with Gordon Ramsay, I had multiple pillows and t-shirts with his face on them. I later found out he used to play for Rangers and I think that explains why he is so angry.
Whose work inspires you now?
Rosco McClelland is a genius, he just drips funny, everything he says is so original, I would love to spend a day in his mind.
What three people would you invite to your dinner party and what are you cooking?
I think I would have Nicola Sturgeon, Susan Calman and Susie McCabe round so we can all celebrate being short women with short hair. I won’t be cooking, we will be having Huel. Nicola is paying, where is the money coming from? Who knows?
What’s your all time favourite album?
Declan McKenna: What Do You Think About the Car?
What’s the worst film you’ve ever seen?
Probably a very controversial opinion but my girlfriend recently made me watch High School Musical for the first time and I found it literally impossible to follow, it was like open mic comedy level for me.
Who’s the worst?
There was once a woman who worked in a shop in Italy who told me she had no change when I tried to pay for a couple of postcards with a ten-euro note, then she opened the till and I cannot express how utterly full of change the till was. I will, one day, get my revenge on her and she will rue the day she ever wronged me.
When did you last cry?
Well it’s Fringe at the moment so I am crying most days, I definitely cried two mornings ago properly but I have been welling up daily.
What are you most scared of?
Horses. They are such scary little fuckers. I don’t like that they have eyes on either side of their head so you never know when they are looking at you. I also once was being chased by a horse and ran into the ocean fully clothed to escape it, only for it to follow me in. The horse was a stronger swimmer than I am and I do not like that one bit.
When did you last vomit and why?
Well it’s Fringe at the moment so I am vomiting most days. I definitely vomited while crying two mornings ago during a flyering shift for Chris Forbes, probably not related. I was getting over a flu so it could be that or just nerves.
Tell us a secret?
I used to be the admin of a Gossip Girl style Facebook page with over 15k followers.
Which celebrity could you take in a fight?
I secretly really fancy my fighting abilities even though the only fight I’ve ever been in I got absolutely battered while hysterically laughing. I don’t know his name but I reckon I could take that ginger English astronaut for sure.
If you could be reincarnated as an animal, which animal would it be?
I think that the Japanese macaques live the dream life, all they do is chill in natural hot springs, eat, sleep and bang. They don’t even know what capitalism is. All they know is sauna and that’s so beautiful.
What’s your favourite plant?
Audience plant.
What's your advice to new students in 2026?
Don’t stress out if you don’t enjoy uni when you first start, or if you don’t find it super easy to make friends. People are weird when you all first start uni, everyone is trying to sell themselves, and often a kinda new version of themself. Just settle into yourself and things will fall into place eventually, try making friends in the city that are not at your uni or not at uni – these often feel like more balanced friendships.
