Two2Much Cabaret Spectacular

loud, lewd, and a lot of fun - this is a bang up to date brand of variety

Old style entertainment, particularly cabaret and burlesque, has undoubtedly made a be-sequinned and be-stockinged return to the stage recently. La Clique's retro style took the Fringe by storm last year, Louise Welsh's new thriller is set in the dark underbelly of Berlin's variety scene, and the world can't get enough of the showgirl glamour of Dita Von Teese. The Two2Much Spectacular takes this trend and strips away the nostalgia; loud, lewd, and a lot of fun - this is a bang up to date brand of variety. The acts range from West End songsters to comedy characters and top-drawer stand up comedians. While these are all great value, they are in danger of being overshadowed by the show's three regular hosts. Lick 'n' Chew's endearing and hilarious routines, and the fish-net clad self-confessed 'diva' Tamsin more than hold the show together, making sure the audience are involved and jollying the whole delightful jaunt to its conclusion. Edgy stuff this is not, but for a night of all-singing, all-dancing frolics, line-up, line-up, for the Two2Much Cabaret Spectacular. [Laura Esslemont]
