Edinburgh comedy club offers free entertainment to stranded travellers

Feature by Bernard O'Leary | 06 Dec 2010

With the UK increasingly looking like the Siberian tundra and airports, train stations and bus routes grinding to a halt, life is becoming increasingly grim. It’s hard enough if you’re at home, so spare a thought for those travellers who are stuck here.

If you are do find yourself stuck in Edinburgh, The Stand comedy club on York Place have an offer to brighten your week. Present your travel tickets at the door any night this week and you’ll be given two free tickets for an evening of entertainment.

Club director Tommy Sheppard says "We don’t usually give away tickets for nothing, but these are exceptional circumstances."

Shows start with Red Raw tonight: The Stand's regular beginner’s showcase promises a special headliner - with last week's surprise headliner Danny Bhoy and frequent drop-ins by the likes of Dylan Moran and Frankie Boyle, expect someone delightful.

The rest of the week will see appearances by Susan Calman, Bruce Devlin and Mark Nelson. Very much worth 'accidentally' missing a flight for.
