Sarah Bennetto Is Lucky

Article by Ariadne Cass-Maran | 25 Aug 2009

Sarah Bennetto gets off to a decidedly unlucky start when she spills a pint in the techie booth, knocking out the spotlight and some of the sound. As the mic makes alarmingly explosive little noises and we begin to groan inwardly, something magical happens: the lights and sound come back on and Bennetto turns out to be marvellous.

Her personability makes us so relaxed that the rocky start doesn't matter. And while she stumbles over some of her words we don't mind at all, because her stories are so utterly absorbing. This is such a lovely cheery way to spend an afternoon.

We happened upon her on an unfortunate day, but she is definitely one of the most effortlessly funny comedians I have seen this Fringe.
