Dave Gorman: Dave Gorman's Powerpoint Presentation
Self-proclaimed as "everyone's second favourite Jewish comedian", Dave Gorman returns to Edinburgh just two months after his sell-out fringe run. He's brought along relative newcomer Jay Foreman who holds the crowd well throughout, despite breaking a string early on, and his composure is a re-assuring presence. His songs about stealing food from flat-mates and why he's glad John Lennon died are borderline edgy and he puts on a solid performance.
With everyone suitably "warmed up", Dave Gorman appears to give us his Powerpoint Presentation. Gorman's routine is wide-ranging but the perpetual "everyman" stays true to his previous shows by coming across as the mischievous jester he is. The internet is his playground and with the use of his massive screen Gorman is able to beam his follies straight out into the audience.
Indeed, the screen acts as the perfect prop for Gorman to show-off his many online musings. His anthems, using words from angry forum junkies, are a notable highlight as are his ramblings on mobile phone advertising. It is all a bit middle of the road however. Overall though, it's a pleasant night and another interesting insight into a concept comedian enjoying his life and his art.
