Wu-Tang Tribute Night @ Soul Biscuits, Cabaret Voltaire, May 19

Unfortunately, Soul Biscuits' tribute to the collective fell short of justifiably high expectations.

The Wu-Tang clan are one of Hip Hop's most prolific and influential acts. Their fame spans the globe and each of the individuals within the group have gone on to provide separately commended works, some; such as GZA and Method continuing on an international scale. Unfortunately, Soul Biscuits' tribute to the collective fell short of justifiably high expectations. As you can imagine it wasn't due to the beats provided by the DJs or their evidently well-mastered approach. And it wasn't anything to do with the MC's abilities. The night lacked an appropriate vibe and despite a hardcore of Wu-Tang followers, it seemed fragmented and missed the essence of what it was there to achieve. Undeniably good beats with a disappointing lack of true energy. [Jonny Ogg]
