The Wee Chill @ Queens Park, Glasgow, May 28th

An eclectic mixture of local talent and established names from further afield

Article by Colin Chapman | 15 Jul 2006
The 4th Wee Chill returned to the familiar, if unusual surroundings of the Glasshouse, again proving that a successful event can be organised south of the river. An eclectic mixture of local talent and established names from further afield covered several musical bases with great aplomb. In the main room, Glasgow soul-funk outfit Engine opened, followed by Kid Carpet and his unique take on the one-man band experience, while the Nextmen rounded things off, cutting up party classics with their own cheeky bootlegs. Andrew Back and Domenic Capello provided a fine selection of disco treats, before Chris Duckenfield followed with some choice house cuts. In the remaining areas Buff International Records' Big Kev, Mark Robb, and Craig Thomson worked the crowd into a sweat with some serious funk joints, while the Hijack Records acoustic tent offered a gentler, folk-tinged pace.
