The Greenskeepers (live) @ Solescience 2nd Birthday Party, Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh, May 12

A smile on your face was the order of the night

This month saw the return of The Greenskeepers to Edinburgh for the second time to celebrate Solescience's 2nd birthday. The Chicago quartet tore the place to shreds from their first note: the crowd were one hundred per cent there for the Greenskeepers' special strain of house. James Curd, Nick Maurer, Mark Share and Coban Rudish ended their UK tour with an outlandish final fling that John Prescott couldn't rival. Their new studio album was at the forefront of the set but Filipino Phil still managed to make an appearance. The group dressed up to mark their live performance; as a jolly cowboy, a faux prince with a blouse and a chauffeur, showing just as much enthusiasm for their older reportoire as they did for their newer tracks. A smile on your face was the order of the night. [Mike Byrne]
