The Black Dog - Temple of Transparent Balls

This essential album is a must for all techno-heads.

Album title: Temple of Transparent Balls
Artist: The Black Dog
Label: Soma

Temple of Transparent Balls was originally released in 1993 on GPR, two years before The Black Dog signed to Warp Records. Back then this album was a blueprint for the emerging 'intelligent techno' scene, and today sounds as refreshing and futuristic as ever. This release on Soma has been digitally remastered, and superbly demonstrates what makes The Black Dog such an influential and respected group. This essential album is a must for all techno-heads, full of deep, complex, and at times haunting melodies, ranging from laid back to heavier electronica. This album is great to chill out to, and perfect for those post-club moments. Standout tracks include the catchy, funky Jupiler, and opener Cost I. As Ken Downie from The Black Dog states, "It makes no difference how old a tune is - a good tune is a good tune", and this is certainly the case with this classic dance record. [Karen Taggart]
