SP - Trust Nobody

Single Review by Steve Glencross | 23 Apr 2008
Single title: Trust Nobody
Artist: SP
Label: Tempa
Release date: Out Now

The latest instalment from the Tempa label sees new contributor SP deliver his first slab, and he doesn’t short change. If you’ve heard enough from the preset wobble brigade then fear not, this steps a good few paces away from that mob. What you have here is some hard, dark stepper rhythms that don’t disappoint. The title cut is raw as hell; bouncing drums, tight reverbs and a catchy vocal lick. On the B-side, Future weighs up nicely too; half stepper rhythms with sly sci-fi tones with tight bass all round. If you’re looking for Dubstep with an edge, this is a 12” you shouldn’t miss; quality in the same stable as Hyperdub, DMZ and Co. [Steve Glencross]
