Rob Reng, Az-Tech, The Caves, Edinburgh, 12 Oct

Breakbeat producer Rob Reng (Ruff Dog / West) takes The Caves by storm at tonight's Az-Tech. Mixing all manner of styles, ranging from breaks to house to hip-hop and electronica, the music is unbelievably funky all night, and the crowd goes mental when recent release Fish, with its thumping bassline and killer hook, comes pounding into their ears. The atmosphere in the main room is jumping, and the live tribal art in the chill-out jungle adds a unique twist. Although the crowd are slightly on the young student side, it's good to see all those bright young things appreciating good music. [Karen Taggart]
