Where do you draw the line with remixes? How many is acceptable, how much is too much of a good thing? Four? Six? How does ten remixes of the same single, Brother, do you? Originally produced by French artist Reead, in colloboration with Guillaume Francois and Johann Querne, the chunky electro hit has been transformed into jackin' electro, minimal electro, tech-house, funky house, deep house, tribal house, with vocals, without vocals - the list goes on. The 'overhauls' come courtesy of Dootage, Distorded, Greg Mayol, Marbrax, Electro Gangsterz (by Getdown and Fred Pellichero), DJ Raxx, Erick Dere, DJ Ralph, Steve Trekker, Junatik and Ian Osborn. Needless to say, they're all dancefloor fillers and the skill for remixing is evident, but it does drag on a little hearing the same song in a different disguise. Try Electro Gangsterz and DJ Raxx's mixes for when you want to get up, Junatik and Ian Osborn for when you want to get down, and the rest as conveniently placed momentum builders. [Struan Otter]
