Tonight Progression's house community eagerly awaited one of the most successful names in the genre - Olav Basoski, a DJ and producer for Amsterdam label Work Records, here putting in a rare UK appearance. Playing an uplifting and funky set, including a James Brown remix worthy of a good booty shaking, Basoski did not disappoint. Fellow House DJs Derek Martin, Alan Dobson and Gav Grant played in the main room also adding more hard tones to a good line up. Room two saw Stuart Johnston and Gary Bowman provide a more experimental vibe to the evening. Progression is one of the better house nights in Edinburgh, the combination of banging tunes and a friendly crowd added to the all round good vibes of the evening. Tonight proved to have a frighteningly effective result on the shape-throwing punters and was an impressive tribute to the evolution of house music. [Gemma Couper]
