Martin Solveig - In The House

Shows Solveig's style well, as it goes from a brooding bassline with hooky bleeps to guitar led upbeat French house.

Album title: In The House
Artist: Martin Solveig
Label: Defected
This latest edition of Defected In The House brought to you by Frenchman Martin Solveig is a fairly enjoyable affair with some good upfront house music and some renowned old school and disco classics. The main CD is one for upfront house purists with tracks from artists such as Bob Sinclair, Paperclip People, DJ Gregory and also Martin himself. There are a few excellent mixes on CD1, for example Tiga's Good as Gold into Bob Sinclair's For You - it shows Solveig's style well as it goes from a brooding bassline with hooky bleeps to guitar led upbeat French house. The second CD is even better, due to it being choc-a-bloc with classic hip hop, disco and funk, taking inspiration from all corners of the world. Artists such as Kurtis Blow, The Chi-Lites and Incredible Bongo Band are featured as well as modern day artists like Bugz In The Attic and The Charlatans. Recommended for all house enthusiasts and anyone who likes to get funky. [Matthew Burden]
Released on September 25.
