Big beats, big bass, big DJs, and a big crowd: big things continue to come from Split

Article by Jonny Ogg | 13 Oct 2006
Split continues to triumph over every mid-week club night since the closure of the Honeycomb and the change of venue for Motherfunk. Their festival performance was no exception, with one of the biggest liquid funk d&b DJs pitching up to a free club and slamming out a rasper of a set to a dancefloor moving like a typhoon in the South Pacific. G-Mac had already filled Cabaret Voltaire and had moistened the crowd using the very freshest elements of d&b. The tremendous bass, accompanied by the chaos control of MC Verse's proficient style, led onto the Soul:R head honcho himself. Marcus Intalex had his foot on the pedal all the way. The liquid vibe leant on the harder side of soulful drum and bass, and ripped through a barrage of full-bodied upfront tracks.
