Krafty Kuts @ Sugarbeat Club, Cabaret Voltaire, March 31

An epileptic's worst nightmare sliced its way through the sweat soaked dank of our favorite hole in the floor. Support act Utah Saints, gave the crowd a good rub down to loosen up and get the blood flowing, yet that was all to change when the man himself rolled up to the command centre set up on the stage. The cacophony of decks, mixers, and other gear left you with the impression that you were not in the hands of a DJ, but an evil genius. The man formerly known as Martin Reeves produced some truly sinister cuts and forged crunching electro breaks. Seated and cloaked almost entirely in darkness behind laser rays, our dictator ruled the dance floor with an iron fist. Edinburgh was left licking the boots of the Krafty one, despite never being able to fully let loose in cramped quarters, constantly dodging bar-goers and newly-banished black lungs. [Lee Boyes]
