Justice - Justice

The good news is that the album has more hits than misses, and shows that Justice are set to be one of the electro survivors when the dust settles

Album title: Justice
Artist: Justice
Label: Ed Banger Records
Justice are of course the remixers of last year's crossover masterpiece, We Are Your Friends, a tune that got everyone from the mozzarella filled clubs to the too cool for school 'undergrounders' jiving uncontrollably. The former graphic designers, Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Auge, have now completed their first long player, and the result is a mash up of electro fun imbued with a sense of simplicity. Some tracks, such as the opener Genesis and Valentine, are unfortunately the kind of slightly dull electro that fills one too many uninspired DJ boxes these days. But on the other hand, Let There Be Light sounds like Daft Punk under attack from the Daleks in a wonderful synth driven monster of a tune. Another excellent track is found on The Party, where Uffie adds her special talent for a very nice chunk of funk that resonates with ice cold coolness, while simultaneously warming the soul. The good news is that the album has more hits than misses, and shows that Justice are set to be one of the electro survivors when the dust settles. [Sean Mcnamara]
