it was clear that the rave was going on 'til 5

Tonight started slowly, with Gareth Somerville playing house numbers to a few folk, including Amy Winehouse who spent the time knitting, and some Mark Ronson groupies. Domu restarted the tempo, building up the broken beats and disco, sticking in tracks like U.R.'s Timeline. Big Belgian Red D settled in well and rocked the place like he would do back home, racing his way through the classics inclding the weeping Someday of Ce Ce Rogers, and Lil' Louis's titanic Blackout. Yasmin brought her own approach to the set, providing live vocals over Cajmere's Say U Will and First Choice's Let No Man Asunder, as well as supplying some appropriate intervals to the mix. Thanks to Sunday's die-hard crowd, it was clear that the rave was going on 'til 5. By this point an eager Domu wanted more of the action so both DJs went back to back in a mash-up that delved into hip hop classics and Inxs's Need You Tonight! [Andrew Cooke]
