Headman - Moisture

Album Review by Gemma Couper | 15 Jul 2006
Album title: Moisture
Artist: Headman
Label: Gomma
Berlin based Headman is a nu-disco producer on the Gomma imprint. He defines his style as Balearic disco, 70s leftfield disco and rock with 90s electro house. Headman's collaborations have seen him work with artists such as Soulwax/2many DJs, Matt Safer from The Rapture, Erol Alkan from London's TRASH Club and Trevor Jackson aka Playgroup for Roh Mix. The second instalment from Headman's widely acclaimed new album 'ON' is the new compilation of remixes, 'Moisture'. Headman and Mustapha 3000 keep the sounds simple; analog-sounding backdrops with meticulously placed layers of coy synths, handclaps, and cowbells. The first remix by Headman demonstrates rave disco at its very best whilst the flipside to this, the stupefying Mustapha 3000 remix, uses the killer drums of early 90s noisecore. Great sounding remixes from a brilliant album. [Gemma Couper]
