The night lacked true guts, which in turn detracted from what, on the face of it, should have been an event to remember.

Legends in drum and bass don't come much bigger than Goldie, and the dank black surroundings at Calton Studios would seem to house a perfect environment for the dark atmospheric sounds we are used to from the Metalheadz label boss. Fresh from his Friday night stint in Glasgow's Art School you may have expected Goldie to be in full rinse-out mode. However, the flat-spirited crowd makes it look like it's their second night on the trot and while Goldie kept the beats surprisingly airy, it proves hard to get the people properly moving. It could be that the lack of bodies, for what hoped to be a near sell-out night, is dampening the mood, or maybe it's the sound system that's warbling half-way through, but the night lacks true guts, which in turn detracts from what, on the face of it, should be an event to remember.
