Fast!, The Bongo Club, Edinburgh, Sept 8

The resident DJs kept things lively with a mix that ranged from the obscure to classic to contemporary

Fast! has quickly become a very popular punk club, for a city sadly lacking in similar decent nights. Tonight The Violets screamed through a rocking set that had the crowd enthralled, and afterwards the resident DJs kept things lively with a mix that ranged from the obscure to classic to contemporary, that had most punters throwing themselves about. Upstairs was a bit of a fizzer unfortunately, as what was publicised as a Johnny Cash Tribute never really seemed to get going, with DJs playing obscure Cash tracks that could barely be heard above the din created by a crowd too busy chattering to take any notice. They definitely needed to turn up the volume, and it was unfortunate because Fast! is usually amazing. (Dorian Williams)
Fast occurs at the Bongo Club on Friday's near the beginning of the month.
