Ewan Pearson, We Are Electric Tryptich Special, Cabaret Voltaire, April 25

Fully utilising the Cab Vol's bassbins, and displaying clear influences from having lived in Berlin recently, Pearson ploughed relentlessly through a deft mix of hot European tech house and smouldering contemporary classics

What better way to launch this years Tryptich festival than with one of the world's most sought after DJ's and producers, Ewan Pearson. A regular spinner at some of Europe's top clubs and studio wizard for the likes of The Rapture, Depeche Mode, and the Chemical Brothers, he certainly has an impeccable pedigree. After a decidedly crowd-pleasing introduction from Gary Mac, and commendable warm up from Flix, on came the headliner. Right from the very beginning he laid down one of those sets where you're afraid to leave the dance floor for fear of missing something. Fully utilising the Cab Vol's bassbins, and displaying clear influences from having lived in Berlin recently, he ploughed relentlessly through a deft mix of hot European tech house and smouldering contemporary classics. Hats off to We Are Electric for bringing yet another top guest to the capital. [Peter Walker]
