Death Disco vs Saltlick, The Arches, Glasgow, April 15

All hell broke loose as expectations were not only met but were surpassed beyond description

The hype surrounding this night was enormous but as the two electro monthlies came together under the Arches mischievous quarters all hell broke loose, as expectations were not only met but were surpassed beyond description. Taking over from a rather elusive and sombre-sounding Linus Loves, Mylo received an affectionate welcome from the crowd as he bounded onto the decks with his usual corrupting energy. Turing the night on its head, Mylo fanatically delivered a throbbing electro set with plenty of punked-up pop and other brave surprises, dropping anything from The Killers, to his own production favourites. In amongst the madness, punters paused momentarily in bewilderment at what sounded like the intro to Snap's Rhythm Is A Dancer and when the beat kicked in to confirm, the effects were explosive. Death Disco representative Erol Alkan knocked out an equally blinding set playing slightly more edgy and menacing sounds to get down and dirty to. [Marj Walters]
