Chase & Status @ Xplicit, The Venue, Edinburgh, June 3rd

Getting down to DnB around The Venue's distinctive bright green pillars

Chase and Status dealt liquid funk and deeper rich ragga styles which were lapped up by the crowd who kept the main floor comfortably full for the final Xplicit gathering at the Venue. This Manchester based duo will be recognised by listeners of BBC drum & bass radio shows for their production of Jenna G's delicious In Love which has floated around the top 3 slots of the D'n'B chart for the past seven weeks. Support came from the self proclaimed "low down dirty scouser" MC Tonn Piper, who was on top form. A true Master of Ceremony, he kept the crowd on their toes and fairly damp with the help of MC BZ and an impressive arsenal of water pistols. An exceptional night thanks to top DJing and MCing, but also a strange buzz of knowing that this was the end of an era. [Jack Waddington]
