Booka Shade - DJ-Kicks

They have taken this as a chance to explore their love of a good melody and appreciation for continental electro, working through the ages and their early influences.

The last few years have been rather successful for Arno Merziger and Walter Kammermeier, aka Booka Shade. The massive Body Language collaboration with Get Physical label mates M.A.N.D.Y in 2005 was followed by their excellent second album Movements last year and they've been touring the world with their live show ever since. So it's not before time that someone offered them a mix CD, this example being the latest in the DJ-Kicks series, which carries the vague theme of giving its participants a completely free reign time and genre wise. They have taken this as a chance to explore their love of a good melody and appreciation for continental electro, working through the ages and their early influences, past a few wobbles (Heaven 17 and The Streets), to brand new melodic minimal from Matthew Dear, Carl Craig, and their own gorgeous new single Numbers.
