Billy Woods presents Melange A Go-Go with Eric Duncan (Rub 'N' Tug) @ The Riverside Club, 16th April

A healthy disregard for genre boundaries, but with an eye firmly fixed on the dancefloor

Another 'disco night', but surely we've all zipped up and filled up our boots by now? It would seem not, and the ubiquitous Billy Woods, Scotland's answer to DJ Harvey, is here to prove this, and show us exactly why the genre marked the epoch for so many strands of modern music. Not one for the well beaten path, and a man obsessed with the more leftfield and wigged-out corners of disco, Mr Woods couldn't have picked a better guest for the second Melange than Eric Duncan, one half of NYC-based disco delinquents Rub 'N' Tug. Billy got the proceedings off to a start with a fine selection of warm, epic productions, before handing over the controls. Eric went on to weave techno into disco, and rock into acid house, all with a healthy disregard for genre boundaries, but with an eye firmly fixed on the dancefloor. [Andrew Back]
