Jakn is a blessed sanctum from the pestilence of glow sticks and "save the rave" tee shirts which has devoured part of Edinburgh's popular regular nights like a plague of locusts. Though scattered at the beginning, the throng on the main dancefloor - and it is a throng, right from the start - quickly becomes a crowd. Both the loyal subjects of JakN and those lucky enough to have stumbled in on a whim, rise to the occasion as residents Fuk-Nut and Sekonz deliver hammering support sets that fire up the momentum for the much anticipated main act. Rotterdam's Bas Mooy commences with a live PA of significantly more subtle, progressive techno, crunching industrial noises hailing the intricately layered drops, propelling the set forward. Haunting insectoid noises punctuate the building, upbeat pace, keeping the crowd on its toes, hugging the speakers and begging for more. See you next time. [Rosie Mclean]
