Annie Mac has given her voice a night off and lets her hands do some of the work for a change to headline July's Mixed Bizness. In support is Joshua Harvery, better known as Hervé. The producer, songwriter and re-mixer opens with some bass-heavy breakbeat anarchy, and like bees to honey the punters fill the floor, eager to show their appreciation for his genre-defining beats. Beeper, a track from his latest EP goes down well, though at times some of the crowd must have felt that they had walked into the Jungle episode of Father Ted. By mid-set the faces are vibrating to Daft Punk's Robot Rock and Organ Donor by DJ Shadow. Miz Mac unexpectedly opens with a bass-heavy remix of Paul Simon's Call me Al, creating a spontaneous mini singalong. She fires up the crowd, keeping her mix tempo fast and her tunes heavy. In keeping with her eclectic tastes, MIA, Peter, Bjorn and John, and The Happy Mondays all get a spin before she decides to finish the crowd off with some high tempo liquid drum and bass.
