Ali Shaheed Muhammad, legendary rapper, producer, DJ, founding member of A Tribe Called Quest and a generally multifaceted entertainer, brought an overwhelming feeling of envy to the crowd at the infamous Scratch at the Bongo club. Not due to his profound talent of selecting every record you wanted to hear, not because of his seamless and highly accomplished mixing abilities and not because he proved he is a true professional, humble in his nature, and possessed of an essential knowledge of how to rock a party. But because he showed the Edinburgh crowd what hip-hop clubs in NYC must be enjoying on a weekly basis. He dropped in everything from his Quest classics to Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, each hitting the spot at exactly the right moment. Alongside was MC Mikey Don, preceeding were the immense Ritchie Rufftone and some fat tunes from Blag 1. Undoubtedly one of the finest days in Ediburgh's hip-hop history. [Jonny Ogg]
