It's a Skinny favourite; Ninja Tune's Zero dB are heading back to Scotland for an appearance at the first Freq of 2007. The club has rapidly become much loved among clubbers, and they've previously presented greats like John Tejada and Alex Under. If you ever wondered whether hard jazz could sound uber cool, it can when it has been through the Zero dB modulator: infusions of electro, breaks, hip hop, house, latin, and even a tinge of African beats, which are all tied together by Fatty McFatFat basslines. Bongos, Bleeps, and Basslines (it does what it says on the tin) is their debut album, released last year to a welcoming public, and subsequently scoring a place in the Skinny's Top Ten Beats albums for 2006. They've also had their hands on material by Grupo Batuque, Sun Ra, Suba and Truby Trio for some genre-collision remixing. Support comes from the Freq residents, Brian and Murray – and don't forget to check out the tasty visuals from No Input. [Alex Burden]
