Riding on a high after their five star review in May's Skinny, Volume are back with another stellar local line-up. Keeping it underground in Ego's basement, guests Ibrahim (Fat Mess) and P-Haze (Sir Faffalot) join residents Profisee (Great Ezcape) and Termite (Obscene) for the best of grime, dubstep, hip hop, baile funk, and Baltimore gutter. Profisee, once a Manchester native, has been writing music for over a decade, and DJing for half that, and is now noted for his solo work and current involvement with The Great Ezcape. Influenced by indie, trip hop, rave, acid, house, hip hop, and dancehall, among others, Profisee has steadily accrued the deserving creditations from fans and industry alike. Termite, also the promoter of Obscene with best mate Krishma, is bringing the grimy dubstep sound and baile funk to the decks for Volume, and former Dogma resident, Ibrahim, will back the dub flavours with the best bootlegs, grime, and B-more ruffness. P-Haze has played round the two major cities of Scotland with Xplicit, Kinetic, Obscene, Basstrap, Tramps with Amps, and now has a monthly slot at Split in Edinburgh. His radio show on Fresh Air showcases his mashup style of reggae and its descendants, touching on rock, electronica, jungle and d&b, the genre which helped him to second place of the Red Smirnoff DJ Championships. Watch out for the live rapping all night also! Libations start at £2 and the free mix CDs start at your best offer. [Alex Burden]
