Tokyoblu 4th birthday party, Ego, Edinburgh, Aug 25 (FOR SKINNYFEST 2)

Tokyoblu have been wowing London with their successful gigs, and have accrued more members; now standing at eight (think quadrupled Basement Jaxx). They will be performing original house music live.

One of their remixes was recently heard being blasted out at Global Gathering by Fatboy Slim, as well as gracing Radio 1's airwaves. Tokyoblu, simultaneously live band and club, are celebrating their birthday with a two floor special to help along the Festival nightlife. "We are all well chuffed to see the club reach it's fourth Birthday especially given that the night is still going from strength to strength in Edinburgh, and more recently across the UK," says Tokyoblu resident John. "I'm sure that there are still many more Tokyoblu birthdays in store, as Iain and myself absolutely love what we do. From the very start, as it still is now, the club was driven by our passion for music as well as a drive to put on the best parties that we can."

"Tokyoblu has grown hugely as both a club and a concept since it launched. The most important aspect of the club for us is the ability for us to get our own music out there, and to do this we are working with a hugely talented group of people in the Tokyoblu band, our awesome percussionist Pepe Santamaria and Nigel Ross who produces Tokyoblu (there is an album currently in the making) as well as doing our decor."

They plan to continue with their productions, with a further two singles set to arrive in the next three months. That isn't to say that they've forgotten the club however: "In many ways Tokyoblu really wouldn't have been possible (and it certainly wouldn't have been half as much fun) without all the support we've had over the years. So to say that we have much respect for all the Tokyoblu clubbers is a huge understatement... all in all it is a very exciting time for Tokyoblu so we intend to throw an absolute monster of a party," said John.

The team wil be taking over both floors of Ego for their birthday with a special spotlight on the Tokyoblu band. They've been wowing London with their successful gigs, and have accrued more members; now standing at eight (think quadrupled Basement Jaxx). They will be performing original house music live in Room 1, with a few Tokyeblu remixes and tunes they wrote especially for their birthday. Pepe Santamaria will be joining them onstage, with support from the Tokyoblu DJs. Room 2 will feature FutureB, dubbed 'Edinburgh's answer to Soulwax', with the addition of Niall McKervey and the three-deck sounds of Little Grooves. The 'blu music policy focuses on house, especially beats of the Chicago kind, but don't be terribly surprised when you suddenly find yourself dancing to electro, disco and a melodious journey through Latin and African rhythms.
