It's a crime that their funky techno-based gruff electro style has been so overlooked

The Lo Fidelity All-Stars, one of Britain's best kept musical secrets, were punting the Kasabian style back when Tom Meighan and Sergio Pizzorno were pubescent school boys. The cockney five-piece first appeared in 1997, releasing two singles, Kool Roc Bass and their cheeky Breeders-sampling Disco Machine Gun. 1999 saw the release of perhaps their biggest and best track, the truly epic Battle Flag featuring Pigeonhed. If you haven't heard this track you really should check it out, as it even featured on The Sopranos. It's a crime that their funky techno-based gruff electro style has been so overlooked, even with the recent resurgence of dance genres in mainstream music. To date they have released two albums - How to Operate With a Blown Mind and Don't Be Afraid of Love - with their new album, Technically Men, to be released very soon. [Franck Martin]
