The Go-Go promises to be a vibrant, groovalicious evening not to be missed

The 13th Floor Elevators' You're Gonna Miss Me is not only the number one dance floor hit on the Go-Go's top ten, but also a sentiment felt among its enthusiasts when the club bowed out last December. An Edinburgh favourite for 60s-spirited movers and groovers, DJs Tall Paul Robinson and Angus A-GO-GO could always fill a room with a shakin' nostalgic atmosphere to the delight of fellow devotees of the era, many clad in mod suits, scarves and mini skirts. But after sharing a bill at Ego for just two months last year with the less like-minded Optimo, the club decided to have a hiatus and a think about its next home. Itching to get back to their faithful audience, the Go-Go's gracious comeback is this month at Studio 24, one of its former venues. Expect to hear a healthy mix of 60s mod, garage, beat, soul, ska and psychedelia that you may or may not know, but wish you did. "The Go-Go is somewhere that celebrates the best music of these different scenes, but in as pure and authentic a vein as possible," DJ Tall Paul explains. "We do play quite a few well-known songs in amongst the lesser-known and eclectic, but the club's about a busy dance floor when all is said and done." The Go-Go promises to be a vibrant, groovalicious evening not to be missed. [Kelly Smith]
