A massive end of summer spectacular is in store at Pressure as the event is held back a week to welcome legend Sven Vath. The gig comes towards the end of this year's Cocoon Ibiza residency and Vath is sure to have some of the season's best minimal techno tunes to unleash on an expectant Glasgow crowd. Vath is recognised as a driving force behind The Cocoon Club in Frankfurt, which has become an iconic clubbing hotspot in Europe, noted for its groundbreaking interior and music. Vath has always been a purveyor of the best electronic music and his sound is dominated by tough minimal house and techno that sounds both retro and futuristic simultaneously. He will be sharing the main arch with Slam, hopefully playing one of his infamous marathon sets. The event also doubles as the launch night for Cotton Cake, who are taking over the first Friday of coming months at the Arches with a promising electro night. Starting strong with the superb Digitalism (live) and completing the evening with Yousef, Cotton Cake are going all out to liven up your lives. German producers Digitalism will be lending a Daft Punk style to the proceedings, with support from residents Mehdi, Jamie Young and Anima. Yousef's unique and funky sound rounds off the party in the second arch, so be sure to plan out your strategy now to catch the best of both clubs! [Sean Mcnamara]
10.30pm-3am, tickets £14+BF available from www.thearches.co.uk. NB A ticket to Cotton Cake allows entry to Pressure in the main arch. http://www.myspace.com/clubcottoncake
