Tuesdays in Edinburgh don't get much better than this. Split has been rolling out techno, breaks, electro and drum & bass to for the capital's clubbing fraternity early every week for some time now - long enough to become an institution. DJ slots are usually reserved for the residents of many of Edinburgh's own club nights - but this being the festival, the Split promoters are treating us to a full-on featured line up, with two of d&b's top names.

Marcus Intalex spins the funky, more soulful side of Drum and Bass. He's a seasoned professional who came from the depths of the rave scene to assist in bringing us the Liquid Funk movement. Intalex and ST Files released the pioneering The Way You Make Me Feel back in the late 90s and Marcus Intalex himself has gone on to head up the Soul:R record label, releasing many of the scenes integral groove-filled tracks. Joining Intalex is the Leeds-based MC Verse, who comes with experience spanning the world; his notoriety making him first choice for the likes of the BBC's 1Xtra.

Running through to 5am and free, yes FREE! Split at Cabaret Voltaire is a must to start your week as you mean to go on. Maximum liquid entertainment for minimum liquid assets. [Jonny Ogg]
