Soul of Man and the BioRhythm crew are original innovators of breakbeat

Article by Omar Kudos | 17 Mar 2006
Finger Lickin' records has been home to the mighty house/breaks duo Soul of Man for quite some time - recent outings on the Plump DJs 'Saturday Night Lotion' LP (Foxy Moron) have showcased the rolling, heavy bass sound with classic acid-house overtones that is the Soul of Man signature, also featured on their fantastic Y4K mix from 2004, 'Breakin' in the House'. Promoting new single Mylowdowndirty, released in Feb, they now come back to BioRhythm to continue the Finger Lickin' connection last seen used to great effect at the Hogmanay bash, with the Drumattic Twins. Supporting at this very special event will be the full BioRhythm crew: Believe, GMac and Silver Storic, who have long been recognised as the pioneers of the emergent Scottish breaks scene.

Believe's main-room sets at BioRhythm were crackling and fizzing with energy before their brief break, during which he played with the Plump DJs in Brighton to a rapturous response. Fans of Bionic Breaks and Electronic Beats will be looking forward to the prospect of seeing the BioRhythm residents united again in their second date of the year. Support in the cooler comes from Solid Steel/Local Product players Dan Bland (see his DJ chart in this month's Beats) and B-Burg, celebrating the release of his LP 'Dessert Island Disco' (review and feature in this issue). Don't forget the pre-club session at City Cafe, hosted by Believe, 9pm-1am at City Cafe - and don't miss this night if you are a breaks fan. Soul of Man and the BioRhythm crew are both original innovators of the music, and will not disappoint.
