Sharam Jey, Afterdark presents Kink, Liquid Room, Edinburgh, 19 May

When you think of Germany in clubbing terms, images of industrial techno and freaked out minimal spring to mind, but DJ and producer, Sharam Jey, bucks the trend in favour of full-on electrohouse. His crossover in sound flirts with techno, house, electro and breakin' disco. Hailing from Cologne, the man behind KingKong records and the rockin' debut 4 Da Loverz (released on Underwater in 2005), got into clubbing during the early 90s, making frequent visits to Warehouse, the city's biggest club. In 1993 he made the move from the dancefloor to the decks, remaining a crowd-pulling resident at the B9 club for five years. Kink Vol 2 was unleashed last year, a compilation on Ministry of Sound/EMI Australia: Kink, if you did not know already, is a leading clubbing brand down under. On mixing duties for the second volume is Sharam with Kink resident, Ben Morris, fusing tracks from Bodyrox, Sebastien Leger, Audiojack, and more. Expect a stormin' showcase of the album with some of Jey's own gems inbetween. Supporting will be the Afterdark residents, Neil Bartley and Jammy. Afterdark was launched almost four years ago at Cabaret Voltaire, attracting crowds and big names alike, including Martin Solveig and Mark Knight. Bartley has been resident for a few years, spinning house and electronic rhythms for maximum enjoyment.

Trevor Nelson, Holla!, Liquid Room, Edinburgh, 20 May

To top the cream of entertainment performing for the Liquid Room's Ten Years At The Top celebrations, is Trevor Nelson; TV presenter, DJ, and overlord of British popular music, reigning supreme over urban, rnb and hip hop. His background in music is not as widely publicised as his industry developments during the latter of the 20th century, and onwards - he started up the Madhatter sound system at an early age, commandeering warehouses for large-scale parties, before moving into late-night pirate radio broadcasting, on the station now known as the entirely legal Kiss Fm, and bringing London's Soul II Soul night to the attention of the UK! A run-down of his achievements and quick movements from behind the scenes to a starring role in the music business would take more than a few words, but it can be summarised with reference to gaining two shows on MTV and another on the BBC, twice winning DJ of the Year (Mobo awards), his own stage at Notting Hill Carnival, and playing host to numerous award shows up and down the country. Supporting will be the Liquid Room's first ever resident rnb night, Holla!, hosted by Ritchie Ruftone and Kath Gee. On mixing and scratching duties is Ruftone, by no means a stranger to the Edinburgh club scene, with DJ Bunty and DJ Dizzle completing the line-up. The music policy may be focused on rnb, but it is certainly not limited to it: hip hop, soul, and dancehall are explored with a wealth of experience at their fingertips. Ritchie Ruftone's several accolades include being the five time Scottish DMC Champion, while DJ Bunty holds the 2000 UK DMC Battle Champion title, and DJ Dizzle is resident at the ever-rammed Club 2 Hot.

10.30pm-3am, £10+bf/£12 on door. Tickets available from Ripping Records and Tickets Scotland (0131 220 3234).
